New Church Leadership
elected At the June 2008 Consistory meeting, Gary
Nottis was elected Consistory President for a one year term. Also,
elected to one year posts were Dan Clement, Consistory Vice
President; and Merdyth Updegraff, Consistory Secretary. Consistory
meets the third Thursday of each month.

Gary
Nottis is Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the
Donald
Heiter
Community Center
, Lewisburg, and the treasurer of the Union/Snyder Adult
Recreation program. He
is married to Katharyn Nottis and has three step-children;
Colleen, Timothy, and David.
Gary
started the Life Tradition Study Group in September 2004 and
is working towards becoming a Licensed Lay Minister.

Dan Clement
Consistory Vice President
Dan
Clement was born and raised in the Bloomsburg area and
graduated from
Penn
State
University
with a degree in Engineering Mechanics. After attending
George
Washington
Law
School
, Dan returned to
Central Pa
where he has specialized in Business and Real Estate Law
since 1969.
In his leisure time, Dan enjoys golf, tennis, and
traveling. He and his wife, Liz, have one daughter, Sara,
who now lives and works in
Washington
,
DC
. Dan will be serving as a Deacon.

Merdyth Updegraff
Merdyth
Updegraff
Consistory Secretary
Merdyth, lives outside Montandon. She is married to Derek and they have three sons, Derek,
Jr., Andrew, and Phillip. Merdyth does volunteer
work at St. John's where she
is an
editor of the newsletter, is helping
catalogue the church library
and is
secretary of the consistory.
An avid reader, she also enjoys music,
boating and her cats. Merdyth sings with
area choral organizations.
She has been a
member of the Buffalo Valley
Singers since 1982 and sings with the Milton Harvest Festival Chorus.
At St. John's Merdyth is a member of the
Exaltation
Ringers and the Chancel Choir.

In May 2008 during the Annual Congregational
Meeting to elect new members to the Consistory, the following
members were elected: Deacons: Barry Catherman, Karl
Pölm-Faudre and Wayne Williams. Elders: Deb
Gutelius and Tammie Noll. Installation of newly elected Consistory
Members took place in June 2008. The following
members have completed their 3 year terms- Elder, Anna Brouse;
Elder John Letteer - Deacon, Richard Mabus, Marie Smith and Deacon,
Polly Swank. We thank you for your
commitment to St. John's United Church of Christ.
